Camberwell

Welcome to Camberwell. This door is not to be used.

My studio is at the top, somewhere in the back. I almost put up a picture of my studio space, but there's some raunchy work in it at the moment. Maybe that can come later.

This is the main entrance, which is usually veiled in a cloud of smoke.

A kind of cool building just a few steps away.

And a pretty church not much further.

More pretty church.

A few pictures from the few times I remembered to bring a camera

Everything here is fancier

There were inflatable snowmen everywhere

Wondering what those little pods are?

Bathrooms, or toilets, as they would say.

On my second night here, a few of the other study abroad students wanted to go to Fabric, one of the hottest clubs in the world. Somehow I went along. This is about 1/100 of the line to get in, which was at least a mile long. We waited a bit, and decided to go to a pub instead. We were the only people in the pub dancing. I'm sure they all knew we were American. Then we went to a small dance club, where I met a few interesting characters, who applauded my dancing queenness. Oh, and you can also see one of the many Starbucks locations in London. I haven't been to any, yet, which is pretty amazing considering that most of the coffee I've sampled here is more like coffee flavored water. Starbucks will be the true test.

That was kind of pretty.

There is also a China town here.

The is the Hayward Gallery, where I saw...

the worst exhibit I've ever seen in my life.

Any good city needs a ferris wheel. This one is called "The London Eye."

The pretty footbridge over the Thames River

I've heard it's the cleanest river in Europe?

A very cool skate park where graffiti is legal.

I shouldn't even try to leave a caption for this image.

Well, it's getting late. Good night.

So I'm in London. Unfortunately, I didn't have the internet at my fingertips for the past week plus. So, how can I sum up my first nearly 2 weeks in London? Some pubs, some confusion, some iciness, some warmth, some good people, some dancing, some kids in cloaks walking down a corridor of Westminster Abbey (weirdly Harry Potteresque), some painting, some beautiful museums, some late night jerk chicken from the 24 hour jerk chicken place. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
